What is the cost, social and financial, of having 40 million uninsured
people in this country?  How does the lack of insurance result in higher
costs, due to a lack of early disease detection, disease prevention,
inadequate treatment when needed, etc.?

When the U.S. has been the only "First World" country without a
comprehensive health care policy (for decades!), how does this affect our
standing in the world?

In the end, what is the cost of NOT providing insurance to domestic
partners, as a timid step towards increasing insurance coverage among U.S.
citizens?
