Re: Our kickin' sitchyashun

Douglas,
Sorry to be ignoring you but I occassionally need to engage in activities
that contribute to my economic survival. I'm afraid you don't get to throw
the scum out under either the law or the principle of equal access as I
outlined it. You may be obligated to ask the rude diners to leave if you
had established the expectation, which I am sure you would, that rude
behavior was not acceptable in your establishment. It is exclusion due to
membership in a class that is prohibited, that is not the same as being
forced to accomodate behaviors you find distasteful. Suppose you decide you
need a restaurant next to New St. Andrews to feed those hungry young bodies.
Likely you would want this to be a place that facilitated elevated
discussion. You may decide that demonstrations of physical affection were
inappropriate and ask patrons to refrain. Those who chose to not refrain
would be asked to leave. I don't think you would run into any trouble
unless you applied different standards for boy and girls than for boys and
boys or girls and girls. (warning; attorneys may disagree with this
opinion).

Perhaps tomorrow I will have time to explain to you why this system, that
allows reprehensible people like Bertolli benefit, results in a better
society than if we were allowed to stone him as he most likely deserves.

Troy Merrill
