We might do well to remember that biblical texts were not all 
written on the same day by the same person, that they are a 
conglomeration of prose written by many and edited/translated 
many times over millenium. They consist of metaphors, parables, 
and interpretations over centuries. Each writing has  (perhaps) 
some basis in the politics of the day as well as individual 
perception acting on the author's reporting...not every "prophet" 
should be assumed to be reciting the "Word" verbatum.
