I made a snap response to Mr.. Hoffman's question, and will bite on the
response from Ry.
First, I would like to say that my response should have said simply middle
class and not white, middle class. The color of someone's skin does not
preclude or include someone from drug use.
Second, while it is likely that the term "drug user" meant only illicit
drugs such as alcohol, tobacco, and grass, etc. I meant it to include both
prescription and over-the-counter drugs such as Tylenol PM, no-dose, etc.
Child is, to my way of thinking, anyone who has not passed through the
community/family coming of age ceremony commonly referred to as high school
graduation, or its equivalent.
As for facts, or evidence, to support my statement, I have none. My opinion
is based on numerous conversations with a large number of people, including
local law enforcement. I have also talked with people who no longer live
here. The "facts" are there, but this community has always supported a
'don't ask/don't tell" attitude toward children and alcohol or drug use.
