The Criminal Justice Sourcebook from the U.S. Government has some interesting
statistics, although not as neat as we'd like.  For example 5.4% of whiles had
reported use of stimulants, as compared to 1.2% of Blacks (speedfreaks are
white?).  Regional use was highest in the West and South.  The same proportions
are similar for powder cocaine, 11.8 to 6.5, while the figures for Crack were
1.9% White, 3.9% Black.

High school seniors were asked about drug use in the past 30 days: Of the class
of 1998, 22.8% reported using weed or hash; 52% used alcohol (down from 65% in
1986).  35% smoked cigarettes, up from 29.6 in 1986.
