Well actually, I don't think Melynda even addressed the validity of the
moral.  And while you may choose to believe the myth if it makes you feel
good; it's pretty important when one uses stories to support great ideas, to
know if they are true or just embellishments  which enhance the original
message. One's knowing that the George Washington and "I cannot tell a lie,
father," story is untrue does not diminish the moral, one simply understands
that George Washington didn't say it and gets no credit for it--at least in
this instance.  And in historical context, that is important.
