KUOI Presents Town & Country with short film on Monday

On Monday, July 29^th, KUOI presents in the Borah Theater a performance by the Chicago group Town & Country.  Town & Country are on Thrill Jockey records, home of current luminaries of the Chicago avant-jazz and post-rock scene such as Tortoise and the Chicago Underground Duo.  They utilize instruments such as cellos, bells, coronet, and saxophone to create moving minimal soundscapes loosely based on themes of Americana.  They have been compared to current contemporary musicians such as Rachels, and also to the work of Philip Glass and late-‘70s Brian Eno. 

 

The show will also feature a special screening of the film “Gravity 37”, a compilation of music videos and short films from artists working with the Gravity record label out of San Diego.  The film features music and performance by the Make-Up, Crom-Tech, Men’s Recovery Project, and the Monorchid.

 

Also opening will be the avant-guitar stylings of Moscow’s own Matt McCoy.

 

Doors open at 7 PM, show will start no later than 7:15.  Cost is $5 at the door, all costs to benefit the artists performing.
