I Haven't Had This Much Fun Since....

Watching the brasiers fly over the nudity law has been truly educational. Let me see if I can sum up what we have learned.

The cover 'em crowd is all for the female breast, and the male members frankly admit that they get all woozy at the sight of them, and Amen to it. The bare 'em brigade, made up mostly of sexually disfunctional or dishonest men, says female breasts are no big deal, and that if you want them covered you must be ashamed of the female body.

We also learn that the city council acted too quickly without sufficient public input to pass a knee-jerk ordinance, and that they wasted way too much time in doing so. On the other hand, the vast amount of energy and time put into opposing this ordinance and working for its repeal are not wasted at all, but the cash money we will have to pay in bond to get the issue put to a referendum will be wasted in this negative effort "instead of spending on something positive for the community."
It is also our civic duty to register to vote in order to sign a petition seeking to overturn the ordinance, but it is apparently not our civic duty to register to vote so we can re-elect the city council, or support the ordinance.

And finally (and this is my personal favorite), the equal rights, dignity, personhood and self-respect of womyn can only be affirmed if they are allowed to peel off their shirts and let it all hang out. It never occurs to the guys (who have been the primary voices in this debate over womyn's rights) to pass an ordinance requiring men to cover up, or to brazenly wear t-shirts in a show of solidarity with the oppressed sistren.

I swear, you people are an absolute hoot.
