Here's some numbers to think about. They come from the official Idaho
School District Profiles:
1990 2000
Enrollment 2714 2624
Ave. Daily Attendance 2565 2471
Elementary Teachers 74.47 82
Secondary Teachers 76.09 85.2
Administrators 8 16
Other Certified Staff 23.1 16
Total Certified 181.7 200.08
Non-Certified Staff 65.9 101.49
Unfortunately, like the university, most of the expenditures is in salaries.
If you have to reduce the budget substantially, it means cutting positions.
There may be a rational explanation for growing staff while enrollment
declines: 1990 was woefully understaffed; mandates for special programs,
etc.
Anyone want to weigh in?
