We headed south, and dropped off the edge of the Palouse and out of
the world of white, into the world of brown, down to a land that is
strangely-scented but certainly snowless and warmer.
At 5pm, when the sun was well down and the darkness hid the brown
hills, the lights came out to play.
At Locomotive Park (below the Red Lion, just over the bridge),
twenty trees in multicolor framed a tunnel of light and the centerpiece
trees that throbbed in color to the beat of country holiday hits.
Even the grumpiest will be thrust into a moderately festive holiday
spirit by the pointless pulsations at the City of Light, that City of
Magic: Lewiston.
