Based on this information, you can draw your own conclusions. But here are
mine.
The average price of unleaded gasoline with tax is $1.2533 at the terminal
in Spokane. Using Travis' $1.459 there's a 20.57 ($0.2057) cent difference
per gallon at the pump in Moscow and the terminal in Spokane. We've always
been told that freight costs make gas more expensive here in Moscow. There
is no way that freight is costing .21 cents per gallon.
While I agree that the retailer must make a profit to stay in business, I
would think a margin .05 to .10 cents per gallon is more than reasonable.
But .21 cents? If I'm doing the math right I come up with a 14.1% markup.
How many gallons of gas does a station sell in a day?
($21.00 per hundred gallons/10 cars @ 10 gallons each)
How much does it really cost to haul gas into Moscow?
Why are we paying so much?!
