the Army and realized that some communities require closer attention than the 
defense budget.

I can assure you that election to the Moscow City Council does not require 
affiliation with any particular political party.  Your inquiry into this 
possibility definitely shows your "newness" to the community (and North Idaho 
overall).  North Idaho is more independent than Republican or Democrat.

I never have and probably never will vote straight party ticket.  And I don't 
trust anybody that does.  A person must be honest with their convictions and 
let people know where they stand.  Otherwise, they become lemmings and simply 
follow the first leader that comes along.
