Tension in Moscow

Someone here suggested that there was a problem within this community in regards to the different religions.  What exactly is the problem between the religions in Moscow?  Are there tensions between the differing religions in this community?  Don’t the leaders of the different churches get together regularly and work together on community projects and concerns?

I was under the impression that Moscow was not unlike any small city in America with your standard collection of Jews, Mormons, Jehovah Witness, Protestants, Islamic, Buddhist, Catholics and a scattering of other small religions.  I have not seen any signs of these religions bickering between themselves.

I wonder if the problem, if you want to call it a problem, is actually between the liberals and conservatives.   My understanding of Idaho is that it has always been considered a conservative state as a whole.  The ideological ideas of these two different political factions are quite vast in many areas and both sides are passionate about their beliefs.  With this passion you will get colorful debates that rarely change the minds of the opposing side.  With a University in town you are going to be inundated with a large contingent of liberals in the heart of a community that is traditionally conservative.  The mix will always create a certain amount of tension but as long as the fundamental ideas of this great country are adhered to we will work through them.

This forum provides a place for everyone to voice their opinions, beliefs, concerns and feeling about the various issues that we face day to day.  It also provides a place to post news, events and activities concerning the community.  Remember if you are appalled by something that someone says you always have the option of using the delete key on your keyboard.

Have a nice day….
