Re: Edmund Burke

Come now, Doug, if memory serves, Rosemary Huskey and I have quoted you and Doug Jones extensively on this list.  It's true, of course, that you didn't much like it.  Are you suggesting that we should only quote those with whom we always agree?  If that were the case, I fear that I would soon run out of material by Emma Goldman and Bugs Bunny.

As for Edmund Burke, as someone once said (was it Bugs?) even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

I give you noon and midnight,

Dear visionaries,

Don't mean to quibble, but I wish that Saundra Lund would discontinue using
the little tag at the bottom of her posts:

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do
nothing."
Edmund Burke

For as we know, Burke was a noted conservative extremist, one opposed to
the same kind of egalitarian hoo-hah that we are opposed to here. So forget
the jack-booted cops for a minute, and let us deal with the slippery slope
we are currently standing on. Unless we take appropriate measures now,
Saundra will soon be quoting Doug Jones, Garrett will be quoting Dale
Courtney, and I'll be quoting Tom Hansen. This list is the source of too
much confusion as it is.
