Re: YOUR Chance to Support Equal Rights in Moscow
So. Is this just a huge ASSUMPTION on your part or what? You make it sound
as if a troop of jack-booted thugs is, at this moment, meeting secretly to
plan the mass enforcement of the slightest infraction of this law (and, of
course, only by women!). Give me a BREAK! You are basing this all on the
'first-hand account' of a woman who was warned??? And from a letter to the
editor of the Argonaut (wow, what a reliable news source that is) from a
woman who has 'talked to some women who have been harassed by police
officers'? And are you aware that there are female police officers and
deputies in this city/county?
Who are these women? What police officer? Name, rank, etc. When did it
happen? What did they DO about it, then? Eg. talk to the Chief of Police?
Have YOU actually spoken with the Chief of Police to see what his policy
is? I would bet about 234098 of my used bras that you have NOT. Because
it's easier to spout off this victimizing rhetoric instead of actually
talking to the people involved, getting facts, not just second- or
third-hand accounts. By the way, that's called 'HEARSAY' and isn't really
welcomed into legal proceedings. And one would hope not into journalism.
As for the plumber's butt comment, I have yet to see scores of plumbers
bending over to share their body parts in exchange for money at a 'Fill
the Crack CarWash' or some such. And, really, to use your tactics, aren't
you ASSUMING that all plumbers are men and therefore women plumbers
showing their body parts are non-existant?? Oh no, discrimination!! Let me
grab the constitution and flap my arms about!! Hmm. Stereotyping? Not the
Muscovites for Equal Rights! I cannot believe the lengths your
organization will go to to scare people into agreeing with you! Look, you
can no longer be topless in your house! Sign here! Ooops, you're not
registered to vote? Well, we can do that, too! Too bad you didn't VOTE
before!
Disgusted by this whole thing,
Debbie Gray (happily married TO a jack-booted thug)
