Our weekly meeting still is every Wednesday at 7pm at Mikey's Gyros.

We will be tabling on campus in front of the UI Commons everyday until 9/24
from 11 to 1.

We also will be gathering signatures at the Latah County Fair this Friday
starting at 8pm (9/13). Meet at the gazebo between the exhibit hall and
armory.

We also will be tabling downtown Moscow Friday night starting at 10pm. Our
table will be set up at the Friendship Square.

We will be tabling at the Farmers' Market this Saturday starting at around
8am.

If you wish to canvas door to door, we can pair you up with someone, too.

Feel free to find other places to gather signatures at, too.

In July, Moscow's City Council approved Ordinance 2002-13, which makes it
illegal for a woman to expose any portion of her breast, which includes her
nipples, sides or bottoms of her breasts, to public view. Public view
includes private property if a woman can be seen from a public space. Many
bathing suits, some sleeveless blouses, low cut dresses, and other garments
now violate the law. It also bans exposure of the division between the
buttocks for both sexes.
The fine is up to $500, or 6 months in jail.
MER believes the ordinance is sexist and unconstitutional and suppresses the
rights of women in order to prevent another person from feeling a certain
way.
MER believes the ordinance will likely be challenged in court, costing
Moscow taxpayers money to defend a law that likely will be shot down by the
court.
MER is committed to upholding the 14th amendment's guarantee of equal
protection under the law for all citizens. MER has started a petition drive
to put the ordinance to a public vote.
2300 signatures of registered voters in the city of Moscow must be collected
by September 24.
