RE: 1912 Building

Ry,

You will notice that the LEDC has as one of its goals/objectives the support
of the arts and downtown development. The LEDC was the lead agency for the
Downtown Revitalization Group. The Downtown Plan adopted by the Moscow City
Council clearly shows that having additional office space downtown in the
1912 Building will bring even more people to downtown to shop, lunch, etc.
and spend money. Therefore, my comments were based on increasing economic
spending in downtown and providing a better quality of life so that we might
retain/attract business.

I do have a personal e-mail address - jazzingbabs1@cs.com, however, in the
15 months that I have monitored Vision2020 for work purposes, I have yet to
see an issue that I feel deserves a personal response from me. As for not
having my normal signature on the bottom of the e-mail, I posted the comment
from outside of my office.

I find it interested that the EDC has a personal opinion. However, since
Barbara Richardson [edc@moscow.com] is the Executive Director of the Latah
EDC, which, from the website...

"The Latah Economic Development Council (LEDC) is a private non-profit
corporation [deleted] . The LEDC is funded by contributions coming from the
private sector, Latah County, the City of Moscow, and the University of
Idaho in roughly equal proportions."

is FUNDED in part by the City, I guess I'm not surprised. Feathering your
own nest from taxpayer dollars, and applauding the people that fund you, is
Good Politics. Gee, I wonder if the EDC has any office space?

"The LEDC office is located in the Business Technology Incubator."

OK, good start. Now, if only the BTI gets funding from the city of Moscow...
I can't find in the few minutes of googling around anything that says they
continue to get money from the city of Moscow, but if they did, it would
shock me not one iota.

I would suggest Barbara Richardson [edc@moscow.com] get an email address
separate from the EDC's email address if she wishes to maintain at least the
appearance of not using taxpayer dollars to lobby for the spending of more
taxpayer dollars.
