I absolutely positively agree with this statement, and thanks for bringing it up . . . it is *shameful*, IMHO.  And, while I've not had first-hand experience, I've also heard that medical care is sometimes substandard as well . . .
 
For those who aren't aware of these facts, please take the time to do some research, or talk to some enlisted folks.
 
While I will undoubtedly object to much of what our defense dollars are spent on, I sadly don't think there will come a time in my life when I'll think we've spent adequately on our enlisted personnel and their families.  I hope I'm wrong . . .
 
There may be a lot we don't agree on (I still think your response was harsh, and I don't necessarily agree with all of your assessment in your response), but we *do* agree on how terrible pay & and living standards can be/are for our enlisted personnel and their families . . . and I do sincerely appreciate the dialogue.
