No confusion. Conscious denial. That sort of distinction always assumes
what it's supposed to prove. The alleged difference between ideology and
theology only works if we assume that "secularism" is true. But that's
what's in dispute.
Why not just make it simpler? Why not call ideology "the true view" and
theology "the false view." It does about the same thing.
