Re: misquotes and misinterpretations

Mr. Hansen,

Consider me admonished.

So next time the Equal Rights Amendment comes around, we better be sure to allow women the equal right to go topless.

Besides, I don't believe it for a minute that this is about equal rights.  It's about grandstanding and protesting.  It's also about an overly reactive city council.  How many arrests have been made due to this ordinance?  Thankfully I wasn't arrested when my shorts started riding low while I was out watering the flowers the other day.

Doesn't anyone else see all the silliness in this?

Dan

Mr. Carscallen -

I am only going to repeat this once.  Have this response printed.  Next time you want to act cute and say something stupid like "News flash, everyone.  Women and men are different."  Have someone read you the following:

This is NOT an issue concerning sex.  It concerns equality.

Mr. Hansen,

I'd have attended the rally, but alas, I was doing something far more important with my saturday -- having fun with my family.

I guess I segregate men and women because, well, they're men and women.

News flash, everyone.  Women and men are different.

Not a rocket scientist (because it doesn't take one),
Dan

Mr. Carscallen -

Had you attended the rally, instead of hiding behind your keyboard or waiting for the 6:00 news, you would have realized (like the 175 people in attendance) that the majority of those standing up for this issue are women.

What really bothers me about your posting is:  Why do you segregate men and women in your posting:  "I just wonder why you, a man, are fighting harder for this than any woman."  This is NOT an issue concerning sex.  It concerns equality.

Just a response,

I just wonder why you, a man, are fighting harder for this than any woman.  If the women of moscow are so oppressed, why aren't they taking up the cause themselves?

Just a thought

The one thing I've found after reading the press from the rally is how
common the press misquotes people.
I never once said "the financial requirement was likely unattainable."  In
fact, I'm fairly certain we can raise the money.
The press also continues to neglect the silver bullet against the ordinance:
a woman cannot expose her breasts in public view.  This means her
property, including her home, if she is in public view.
Ideologies aside, that wording is absurd!
You can continue to criticize what we are doing, but unless you understand
our view, interpretations will be lacking.
