Sunil asked:
"Or would you prefer to apply Old Testament law, all of it, to all of
us?"
And Dale replied:
"Would you prefer the Bhagavad Gita?"
I'm guessing that Sunil would prefer that we apply the United States
Constitution. So would I. That is the only standard by which we can or
should determine the validity of our laws, and, considering the diversity of
peoples, faiths, and politics in this country, it's as close to consensus as
we're going to get.
One of the happy consequences of the separation of church and state is that
we don't have to "wing it." We're governed by a secular document and not by
anyone's particular choice/interpretation of a sacred text.
