Picnickers bare tops to an unfazed Ithaca

ITHACA -- About two dozen women bared their breasts at a DeWitt Park picnic 
Thursday, and not one bystander fainted dead away.
The picnic drew both men and women, some holding signs reading "Bare is 
Beautiful," and "Born Bare," to celebrate the human form.

It became legal in New York to celebrate the top half of the female form in 
public in 1992, following a ruling of the state Court of Appeals. While 
total nudity in public is still against the law, the court ruling protected 
a woman's right to go topless wherever men may do so.

Most people appeared to take little offense at the picnickers, and many 
people walking past the small, city park seemed to hardly notice.
