In the interest of providing an avenue for the
convergance of independent film, art, and music, KUOI-FM presents the first in a
series of events to be held in the Borah Theater in the UI SUB.
Tonight's event will feature a screening of the short film "A Life For
M-80", directed by Jaffe Zinn and winner of New York Magazine's award of
excellence. Zinn recently graduated from the film program at New York
University and draws influence from groundbreaking modern filmmakers such as
Harmony Korine.
Performing will be Moscow band ECHO AVE., in their first perfomance since
May followed by Chicago's THE FIRE SHOW. The Fire Show are on tour in
support of their new album "Saint The Fire Show" on Perishable Records, and play
a spacey blend of sound collages and experimental rock. This is their
final tour before splitting up and parting ways.
This kicks off what KUOI hopes to be a number of events that will continue
throughout the year, including scheduled musical performances from TOWN &
COUNTRY, THE SPEDS, LAURA MINOR, THE NUMBERS, and STARS AS EYES. Each
event hopes to feature a new film from up-and-coming directors as well as
showings by area artists and other multimedia presentations. More info on
becoming involved or submitting your work will be available tonight, or by
emailing
bennett@sub.uidaho.edu.
Film starts at 7 PM, cost is $5, all proceeds to benefit out-of-town
performers.
