School District Issues & Discussion

To Whom It May Concern:

I am interested in the agenda of my opponent in Tuesday's school board
election.
Unfortunately that agenda has yet to be made clear. I encourage my opponent
to make his positions clear on the issues we face, including
configuration, facilities, budgetary matters and erosion of enrollment.

Furthermore, I implore my opponent to speak candidly on what he believes
the role of the government should be in public education.

My opponent has publicly stated he supports teaching creationism. However,
the debate of creationism versus evolution is not for Mark or me to decide.
The United States Supreme Court has already spoken to this, according to Dr
Fisk.

I encourage Mark to focus his commentary on issues that the board truly
faces.

This is a critical time for Moscow School District due to the many
challenges we currently face. It is important for the school board to focus
on positive improvements to our district.

In my bid for school board trustee I recognize that Moscow is a very diverse
community. It is a daunting task and especially challenging to meet the
needs of each and every group with a special interest. That is the nature
of democracy.

I believe it is imperative that we continue to explore options and stay
apprised of current educational trends that could benefit the children
enrolled in the Moscow School District.

I encourage patrons to recognize that the decision they make in casting a
vote is not what is best for any special interest groups but rather, what is
best for children. Our children's education is paramount.

Sincerely,
