Re: Congratulations to the Junior High Knowledge Master Team!
In light of the many negative comments that have been made recently about the quality of education in the Moscow School District--and questions that have been raised regarding some of the "activities," which many equate with "sports," I thought some of you might be interested in some of the good news that often goes unreported--and I would like to say that I take a degree of responsibility for it not having been reported. When I receive these notes, I will pass them on to vision2020.
Dr. Albright, for those of you who don't know, is the district Assistant Superintendent in charge of personnel and curriculum (what we teach, how we teach it, how we assess it--in other words what happens day-to-day in the classroom). His note was addressed to the board and to other staff members in the district, and I pass it along verbatim:

We have just received incredible news! The Moscow Junior High Knowledge
Master Team led by Carolyn Tragessor just learned that they are the Number
One Junior High Team in the entire nation! In the Knowledge Master Open,
thirty-two of our 7th, 8th, and 9th graders had to incorporate knowledge,
speed, and strategy to successfully respond to 200 questions covering a
multitude of curricular areas. The mean score nationwide was 1243 points.
Moscow students scored 1626 points! A team from Florida came in second with
1598 points, and a team from Pennsylvania came in third with 1587 points.
CONGRATULATIONS! We continue to demonstrate excellence in our school district!
