Re: [Vandal] Aerial Photograph of Old Moscow

Dear Tom, Sam and Visionaries,

THANK YOU!!! What a rich and cherished collection you have... and what a joy to wander down those paths!

The elegant Methodist Church is clearly visible in the center left of the photo and across the street, a little more to the left, is the original high school which the 1912 High School (shiney and new to the east of the Methodist Church) replaced. Indeed, you can see the McConnell House and just behinf the then-new high school is the Swedish Church (I think Lutheran), now housing those wonderful Unitarians.

Something special for me is the view of A Street in the background, with its stand pipe, the old Russell School (which burned, I believe, and a new school built in its place, the present one, minus the not-so-mobile classroom on A and Jefferson), my house, and the rest of the homes between the alley west of Jefferson and the alley east of Jefferson present and accounted for.

Thank you once more for sharing these treasures.

All the best,
Linda

Sam -

I would love to share these photos with Vision2020 here in town (the more the merrier, I say).  They can visit my archive (as well as download the photos) at:

http://www.tomandrodna.com

Memories tend to lose their intrinsic value unless you share them.

Thanx for sharing your old photos, Tom.

No, I think that is not an "aerial" photo, at least not in the
conventional sense of being from an aircraft.  Much too low.
Maybe shot from the Presbyterian Church or the Courthouse, if
either existed then.

On the left, not too far into the distance, is that the "1912"
building that is now being renovated?  And just beyond that and
to the right, is that the building occupied by the Unitarian
Church?

Would you be willing to share your posting with the Vision2020
email group out of moscow.com?  I'm sure a number of readers of
that list would find your photo interesting.

Greetings Vandals -

I have just added an aerial photograph of old Moscow to the archives.  I
believe this photo was taken from the olde grain elevator on the north side
of town.  I have no idea when it was taken, though.  As ever, you can view
it (and download it) at:

http://www.tomandrodna.com

The Cougar feast at the zoo is scheduled for August 30 at Martin Stadium.
See you there.

Until then, take care and . . .

GO VANDALS ! ! !

Tom Hansen
