RE: Regional hospital
Thanks for the personal responses so far Someone asked me to clarify "why"
I am asking this question. I am asking this question because I have worked
with health care across the country and understand the high cost of
equipment, etc.
I also do conflict resolution and consensus building work as a profession so
I am very aware of "territories" and the associated human behavior, which
most times is not in the best interests of society. I realize the primary
motivator for this behavior is fear.
I am asked to support the construction of a new hospital by friends. I see
the straight logic of building something that effectively can service the
needs of twice the population, consequently, the value of getting more for
our money.
An eight minute drive (as commutes are measured in urban areas, is not very
long. Of course, in medical emergencies, minutes do count. We could also
look at a possible structure that is like the Pea and Lentil Commission,
built on both sides of "the line".
So, those are more of my questions and thoughts. I figured what some of the
responses I have gotten was what has happened. I suppose I am looking for
what is best for the region. I'd appreciate continued input from a
visionary group so I can make an informed decision. Thanks. Jeff
