Moscow Memorial Planned for Missing Venom Expert
A memorial celebration for Darwin Vest, the former Moscow resident, Micro
Moviehouse employee, and well-known expert on snake and spider venoms who
disappeared mysteriously in Idaho Falls a year ago, is planned for this
Saturday, June 3, announced Lisa Cochran, a friend of the Vest family who is
coordinating the event.
The memorial will be held Saturday at the picnic shelter by the baseball
diamond at Robinson County Park, five miles east of Moscow, at 7pm. That
picnic shelter is located at the north end of the park. Those driving to
the memorial from Moscow should turn right at the park, continue past the
park headquarters, and then turn left on the gravel road through the trees
to the picnic shelter. Signs will be placed along the route.
All friends of Darwin Vest are encouraged to attend and bring a story about
Darwin to share, Cochran said.
Vest disappeared exactly one year before the memorial, on June 3, 1999,
after playing his regular weekly game of Trivial Pursuit at an Idaho Falls
tavern. He left the tavern never to be seen again. Despite a police
search, no evidence about him has surfaced. A website about his
disappearance is located at:

On June 3, a similar memorial celebration is also planned by the family at
Idaho Falls. More information about that memorial is available at the
website located at: http://members.aol.com/davevest/dar.html
The memorial site at Robinson Park is appropriate, Cochran said, because
Vest enjoyed playing frisbee golf at the park.
Vest was one of the colorful characters who help make Moscow such an
enjoyable community, Cochran said.
"Everyone has a story about Darwin," she continued. "He touched so many
lives. He was the Micro guy. He was the snake guy. He was the spider
guy."
