Re: sales tax at Moscow Renaissance Fair

Hmmm there is another interesting part to all this. Girl Scouts sell
cookies for $3.50 per box, and collect 5% sales tax or $0.18 per box sold
individually. however, if you buy 2 boxes at $7.00 you pay only $0.35 sales
tax, not $0.36 So if ten girls sold one box each, $1.80 would be collected
in sales tax, but ten boxes sold for $35.00 results in $1.75 being reported
as tax.
Now a nickel doesn't seem like much, but when one starts looking at total
sales, that lowly nickel becomes significant.
What is more concerning is when you look at all those girl scouts collecting
sales tax while so many other individuals and businesses do not have to. I
think there is a legislative committee finally established this year to look
at the inequities of the current sales tax in Idaho, perhaps that committee
needs to hear form all of us?
