Paradise Path Task Force Minutes

NOTE: The path system is in at Berman Creekside Park and offers a nice walk
along the creek for visitors. Later this spring we'll be finishing the
grading, irrigation installation, and seeding of the large open space.
> Planting of some of the garden areas will begin this spring and continue
>in the fall. There will be opportunities for the public to participate in
>purchasing and planting flora for the various garden areas. Enjoy! Roger

>The graphic design team from the U of I showed the task force a mock up
>brochure and design options for T-shirts. Types of signage for use on
>bollards and along the path were also discussed. The team had researched
>some of the costs associated with printing T-shirts and brochures, but will
>continue to refine their estimates. The goal of the task force is still to
>unveil the new logo during Arbor Week and possibly distribute T-shirts to
>those who volunteer to help with the planting along the Bill Chipman
>Palouse Trail on April 28, 29.
>
>Linda requested that the cost estimates be finalized as quickly as possible
>so that a request for funds can be taken forward to the Public
>Works/Finance Committee. The graphic design team will work with Becky to
>update the information for the brochure. The team will solicit price
>quotes for long and short sleeve T-shirts, with and without pockets, and
>with designs on the fronts and backs.
>
>Roger reported on the meeting he and Becky attended, which was sponsored by
>PCEI and included representatives from the National Park Service, Whitman
>County, the U of I, the Latah Trail Foundation, Latah County, and the
>Palouse Land Trust. Michael Linde from the Seattle office of the NPS
>presented an overview of the Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance
>(RTCA) program. He said that NPS would work with local entities to develop
>a RTCA proposal. The program does not provide financial assistance for
>construction, but can provide assistance in planning, community outreach,
>and developing funding strategies. Mr. Linde suggested that the group take
>a region-wide approach to developing a system of paths that might include a
>coalition of entities from Latah, Whitman, and Nez Perce counties. The
>task force felt that such an approach should also include Asotin County.
> Linda suggested that Moscow consider a proposal of its own which would
>focus on the path system within the city limits.

>The next meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, April 11, 2000 at 5:30 p.m. in
>the City Hall Conference Room (located in the southeast corner of the
