RE: $5 million

Dear Friends,

As with many of you I would have liked to have a pool that was covered. It
is important to understand, however, that it would have cost a lot more to
have that done. The pool is geared for kids and families and even though we
may be limited to a few months a year of use I think calling it a useless
hole is a bit extreme. If the citizens of Moscow want a covered pool then we
should raise the extra money and put a roof on the pool. It is our pool...
we should pay for it. I think it would be unwise to waste a big chunk of the
donated money to put a roof on the pool when we can invest it and use its
returns for projects.

We as the residents of this region have to understand that we will
ultimately pay for all the services that we want. We will also pay for the
lack of services we may need. It is our responsibility to make our town a
better place. If you want services... then help raise the funds.

I see a similar trend with the 1912 building... it is amazing to me that
people who are asking for better things for our community are against this
plan. The fact of the mater is that this town stinks as far as services for
families and kids. The city has worked very hard to remedy this. The folks
at Parks & Rec. are working very hard to add services and facilities for us
to use. I am constantly troubled by the negative attitude and lack of
appreciation for our city government. It is very easy to stand at the
sidelines and criticize those who are working their tail off for you.

I think we need to grow up... if we want things... we need to work to get
them. We in this country have had it way too easy for way too long. We have
become very complacent and lazy. We expect everyone else to take care of
things and donate things and give their time freely but we ourselves often
never have enough time and money to give our community.

Your brother in arms,

Shahab...

It IS a useless hole! as well as a waste of my hard earned money...Tell me
what
low income or even moderate income family will be able to send their child
there
to swim? The UI of I pool is THEIRS, they set the schedules to suit their
students, not the public...Last time I went to walk in the dome they wanted
to
CHARGE me!!! The facilities at the UI belong to them not us...
