Re: Adopt-A-Steet Program

Dear Visionaries,

The Library was very grateful to Lois when she pointed out the
insensitivity of the name "adopt a battered book". After evaluating the
effectiveness of the program, we decided to drop it altogether and focus
instead on getting new books into our collection. After all, who really
wants to read "dirty" books?

As far as a replacement for the name - how about "clean up a street",
"choose a clean street", "take up a clean street" , etc., etc. There is
enough creativity in this community to come up with something catchy and
appropriate.
