Re: Husky

I have to disagree with you about gun prices being outrageous. They may
be slightly higher at Husky's compared to Wal-Mart, but they are not
outrageous. Most of the popular models I've looked at are within a few
dollars. Plus, wood grain quality of the gun stocks seems to be better at
Husky's than at the chain stores and that adds value to a gun. I also
disagree about ammo selection, does Wal-mart carry .35 Whelen? How about
416 Rigby, or 454 Casull? Try finding .45 Colt cowboy competition loads at
Garts. There have been many concerns voiced on this forum about how our
small, local businesses are being destroyed by the "chain stores". Husky's
is a good example of a local business that has managed to stay afloat.
Wishing it to go out of business would do the business community absolutely
no good. I know for a fact that the manager, Eric Livingston, is the last
person I would accuse of being arrogant. He is absolutely fair, reasonable,
humble and honest in his dealings. I don't know about the other guys, you
may have had bad treatment in the past, mostly students work there and the
turnover is fairly high. As for the owner, he and I disagree completely on
our views of running a business. He has hunted for just about every
big-game animal on this planet and is somewhat of a legend in the hunting
community. But, he ain't exactly a "The customer is always right" kind of
guy, but people have told me that he answers tough questions and he knows
what he's talking about. Husky's may not be perfect, yet, but wishing for a
small, local business to go under seems a little harsh.
I totally agree about Tri-State, though. It is a great store and has a
great selection with friendly staff and quality merchandise.
