That's what the internet is for. Get beyond dead trees. If you want to know
what's going on in this community, go to Radio Shack and pick up a cheap
police/fire scanner and a good antenna (spend some dough on a nice antenna
and throw away the one that comes with it). Then listen. Why, just the
other night I got to hear someone fell off a bridge here in Latah County.
Didn't hear about that, eh? Well he fell into a creek and got wet. The
officer said he was OK... everyone on the radio was laughing about it. He
said they may have even got it on video.

There's all kinds of good stuff going on.

I heard two cops trying to catch a black and purple crotch rocket a week
ago. The exchange went something like this:
Is he coming my way?
Yeah.
Is it Paul?
No, I think it's Tom.

You know you're in trouble when the cops know you by sight.

This stuff is good to listen to and it keeps you in the loop. I knew not to
even bother calling the police about two abandoned cars in front of my
apartment complex because the dispatcher told one of them that "your
abandoned vehicle from xxx is now in front of yyy". It was towed within a
few hours. Also, you get to see the cops as people when you listen to the
crap they have to deal with.
