Re: computer parts and sister cities

Dear Louise,

There was no intent to ignore the existing sister city relationship we have
in Nicaragua. What I learned from my journey to Africa and my relationships
in the National League of Cities is that many cities have "more than one
sister" and have looked at other continents. I hope you read on, Louise, and
noticed that the City is looking at sister city relationships in addition to
the one with the Nicaraguan town.

I look forward to the time that the CIty of Moscow (and Pullman, too) have
relationships with cities on all five continents. As a booster of student
exchange programs, I can tell you from direct experience ALL of our contacts
with other cultures bring additional understanding, empathy and
appreciation... both of their culture and the advantages of our own. It's an
interesting bonus in such exchanges that we learn to appreciate what we have
even more as well as coming to understand the advantages and offerings of
other cultures.

As you may know, I have been a supporter of the Nicaraguan relationship in
various ways since the mid 1980s. I say let's bring more into the family!
Give me a call, 882-1280, with your ideas and information.

Thanks for your and others' efforts for the sister cities relationship.
Sorry if the impression was left that this is a completely new idea!

All the best,
Linda Pall
Moscow City Council
