I'm sorry if I offended anyone by saying that the police department wasn't
doing enough to solve this crime. It's just that everyone I talked to that
day about the issue seemed so unsympathetic, and didn't seem to care.
Many seemed to treat these murders as "business as usual," and that just
tore
me up. I had one cat murdered when I was young, and recently one of our
other cats was shot in the face (he's still alive, and very loved,) and this
is
a very personal issue for me. It disgusts me when I hear about cases of
animal abuse, not just cats, and the perpetrators get away with a slap on
the wrist.
As for the publicity standpoint, I've gotten several replies from many of
the
wonderful readers of this newsgroup, and many of the responders haven't
been aware that this problem was still going on.
I've found out recently that when I went into the paper, Nina Stazkow
wasn't there at the time. I did talk to her husband, Craig Stazkow who,
although at the time seemed uncaring, wasn't a reporter, and maybe didn't
understand why I was sent to talk to him about this issue. By way of
apology, he gave my husband copies of Nina's articles the following
work day.
I have gotten a lot more support from the readers of this newsgroup
and from others from different newgroups, and now feel
that more people than I thought are looking into these crimes. I feel
better
now that I see some progress is really happening, but I wont feel great
until the sick person(s) are punished.
E. Cumming
