Here's my vision for a piece of the 1912 high school: Preserve one room as
a working historical classroom. It can be both a general-purpose meeting
room and a place to honor the building's origin and history. This was,
after all, a school. Put in 1912-style desks, lights, blackboards, atlases,
textbooks, etc. If it's not practical to use original interior finishes
throughout the building, at least do it in one room. It can be used as a
real classroom for school field trips and presentations. It would be a
place to display photos of the building's construction, student life, etc.
The Historical Society has the expertise to put together interpretive
programs and exhibits for all generations. A community center should
include at least one room to focus on the community's identity and roots.
