Acceptance and Toleration

Here's a sticky point in the gay-debate.  "Acceptance", believing in, and
"toleration", respecting without sharing.  Many people are quite willing to
tolerate gays.  Many are willing to accept gays.  But many are only willing to
tolerate, NOT to accept.

When gays push for acceptance they seriously offend those who are willing to
tolerate, but not accept.  AND, naturally, they infuriate those who aren't
even able to tolerate gays.

It's like freedom to speak versus a demand that people believe.
