RE: optional form of gov't organizational charts
Steve,
I like your charts. Two points of correction:
1. In the new model, the County Prosecuting Attorney should be
alongside the Commissioners, not above, as you have drawn it. In both
models, the Commissioners should be grouped together, because their power
is exercised together (you have done this in your drawing of the new model
but not the old model).
2. It should be noted that the costs and/or savings of the new system
cannot be based solely on the salaries in the charts, because of staffing
issues. For example, dividing the clerk's office in two should not add
expenses, because you already have an operational division in the office
that will allow the division to be done at current staffing levels.
Similarly, the consolidation of the Treasurer's and Assessor's offices
will, in the long run, save money in my view--but it does not
automatically save money until staffing levels are adjusted.
One technical issue:
I could not get all of your chart to print out-the right edge gets cut
off. Can you format it so that it fits on an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper in
portrait orientation?
