Re: Curbside recycling

I support a curbside recycling program. Yes, there are examples
of what NOT to do (in California), but there are also a number of
very successful programs being run in Portland, and Seattle, where
recycling is just another part of the garbage pick-up service. For
some, it may not be all that difficult right now to take their recycling
to the center themselves, but other people choose not to do that.
Not everyone is concientious enough about recycling that they are
willing to go out of their way every other week to drop it off, and
those recyclables wind up going to the landfill.

>From another point of view, I would imagine the Recycling Center
would be relieved at the City Council approving such a program.
Then, the traffic patterns at the Center would be more regulated
and they would not have as much of a time directing people where
to park.

I think it's important to think about how this program will affect the
future of Moscow, also. In 10-20 years, when Moscow has grown
in size, it might make even more sense to have a recycling
program established.
