There has been considerable interest in the assault and battery incident
involving Matt Kitterman and Fritz Knorr. I appreciate the concern shown by
members of the community and specifically the vision 20/20 members. Moscow
is a great place to live, work, and play because our community does care
about criminal behavior, random acts of violence, and the response to those
actions by it's police department. To that end, I want to work with the
community to address areas of concern and take the appropriate action.
At the beginning of the investigation involving the assault on Fritz and
Matt the situation was reported to the vision 20/20 group. Because of the
interest shown, and at the request of several 20/20 members, I would like to
advise the group of our progress on this case.
An all points bulletin was distributed which did result in our locating the
vehicle and subsequently one of the individuals involved in the assault. We
have identified the second individual and anticipate locating him shortly.
The investigation is continuing. We should have our completed case to the
prosecutor within several days.
The internal investigation concerning our initial handling of the situation
is also continuing and should be completed shortly.
I want to thank everyone for their interest in this case and the welfare of
our citizens.
Sincerely
Dan Weaver
Chief of Police
