I've always liked the idea of a quilt. To copy the carousel example in
Missoula, how about three evenings a week of sewing a community quilt?
A member of the Palouse Hills Weavers Guild could show us the basic
stitch; we could have a preset measurement for squares (bring your own
material); and participation could be on a drop-in basis. Think of all
the social and political lines that would be crossed, as well as ages.
Think of the stories and concerns people could share at these informal
quilting sessions. This could be a great winter project to shed a little
light and fellowship during those dark days. When we were finished we
could have a great celebration, too.
