Palouse basin aquifer

Dear Visionaries:
In light of the recent news about the Naylor Farm application for water rights from the Palouse basin aquifer I would like to point your attention to a legal advertisement that ran in the Moscow-Pullman Daily News on Friday November 22, 2002.    http://www.dnews.com/class/fri/244.htm  (text is included below as well)
It seems WSU will drill to a depth of 1000 feet in order to pump around 2,500 gallons per minute. (3,600,000 gallons per day or 1.3 billion gallons per year).  The magnitude of this amount of water is not that far off from the Naylor Farm request and yet I have not heard anything from area groups who are trying to protect our groundwater.  The recent Groundwater Forum brought our attention to the problem Pullman has with the declining water table, now it is evident that WSU will only add to this problem.
I would hope that PBAC as well as the cities of Moscow and Pullman and Latah and Whitman County question this new drilling program to the degree they have questioned the Naylor Farm application.

Thanks,
Chris Storhok
