Value driven approaches

Dear visionaries,

Tony Brown writes that "restorative justice is a value driven approach."
This is correct, because everything is a value-driven approach. And we
return to the question that folks in this pluralistic town do not want to
face squarely. Whose values? Why?

Societies cannot function unless certain values are imposed and others are
rejected. Whose values are worthy to be imposed by the force of law? Whose
values are weighed in the balances and found wanting? Are these values
fixed or do they fluctuate? Still curious after all this time. Just
naturally inquisitive, I guess.

Cordially,

Douglas Wilson
