Here is an example of police wrong doing....

Several years ago you may have read in the paper about a police stand
off...

The insident started when a couple of young drunk males shot off a shot
gun in front of Judge Hamlets house. Several hours later one of the young
men involved, even more drunk by this time, became paranoid and thought
that his friends were going to kill him.

They were at a party on Washington St, near Rosaures, one of the young men
had brought a gun to the party that belonged to his father to show it off.
That is when the paranoid youngster fled. He went to Rosuares, I believe
and called the police.

By the time the police arrive outside of the house where the party was,
everyone was asleep/pasted out. The police were in there full regalia,
bullet proof vests, the works. They order everyone to come out of the
house but, there was no response.

While this was happening a friend of mine and the mother of one of the
boys inside was delivering papers and saw what was going on. She told
them that she knew whos house it was and that she would go in and get
them. Her offer was refused. Again, the police ordered everyone out of
the house. Still no response. What they didn't realize is that the reason
that no one was responding was because they were as I stated either asleep
or passed out.

They eventually came outside as a result of waking up do to becoming cold,
as the police or someone had placed a brick in the door to prop it open.

So, a paranoid young man started something that the police responded too
with more force than necessary. A STANDOFF! I think not, but did we
ever, as citizen find out that there was no stand off? No. The only
people standing off were the cops.

Here is a little harrasment story for you.

I was in town for Ren. Fair and while there a spoke with two people about
there resent experiences with the MPD. granted, they had been in some
trouble before but, they had paid there fines and done there time.
One was on her way into a concert at the SUB ballroom when two officers
standing at the door saw her and ask her to come with them. She
cooperated and they step to the the side.
"We just want to see if there are any warrants for your arrest", they
searched her, without cause, as there were no warrants. Unfortunately she
did have some paraphanalia on her, but I would call that illegal search
and seasure(sp). No warrant, no cause.

Another....A young woman had been working at a local saloon on main st.
She moved out of Moscow. When she called her former employer to give them
her new address to send her check to she was informed that the police had
been in looking for her. So she called the police department and asked
what was up. Wanting to know if there was some reason that they would be
looking for her. The officer on the phone check all the records
available to them and said there was nothing. So tell me, why would the
police be trying to find her? I am sure it wasn't to say hello.

Here is a person experience. Many years ago, when I was a Senior in high
school, I was in a car accident. It was my fault and I left the
seen...anyway I went to court and was given a fine and community service.
This was before Hamlets time. I did several hours of community service
and paid my fine. I did however not complete my service as the court
did not give me anymore assignments and not because I wasn't in contact
with them trying to get more work....anyway, several years later I
received a phone call from the MPD. The wanted to know why I had not
completed my community service. I explained to them the cinario. They
asked me if I could come in and speak to the judge. i stated that I could
not as I lived out in the country and had no way into town, my parents had
already left for the day. They offered to come and give me a ride and I
said that would be fine. Officer Michelson(sp) arrived at my house about
30 min. later. I went outside where he then proceeded to handcuff me and
hall me to the court house. You can bet That I was confused and pissed
off. Why the handcuffs? I was coming in voluntarily, I had not violent
offender record and I was born and raised in Moscow so it wasn't like he
didn't know me. It is all about Power. Excessive and Abusive. And don't
think that it has changed. The cops aren't neccessarily bad, they are just
out of control. There is no one that the local judicial system has to be
accountable too. No checks and balances.

I could go on for days about things that I know to be fact, but I am sure
you have had enough for one day. I don't care whether or not you believe
what I say, I know what is the truth!

It is time for the citizens to become the system of checks and balances!

Peace be with you,
Kay. Across the wall of the world,
A River sings a beautiful song. It says,
Come, rest here by my side.
