vision2020@moscow.com: Seeing Red

Seeing Red

For some unknown reason (just the way my mind works....), Greg Myer's
posting on the Moscow elections reminded me that I was going to write this
email earlier today.... and forgot.
While driving north out of Moscow today (just before noon) I noticed a
bicycle rider going south. He/she deserves the safe-biker-of-the-day
award; this person was wearing a bright orange/red safety vest, clearly
visible from a distance in both directions.
Since I have been slightly critical of local bikers' irresponsible
habits, I just thought I would mention this refreshing change.
But lest I get too upbeat and positive, I have also noticed several
bikers in Moscow evidently competing for stupid-biker-of-the-year award;
riding in the street in the wrong lane (facing oncoming traffic- and I
don't mean in the designated bike lanes). What happened to the Moscow
P.D.'s 'get tough' policy? Guess it only applies to cars.
