Memo
Recently, the cities of Moscow
and Pullman filed protest against a
water right application from Naylor Farms, LLC.
This action was taken by the cities owing to large amount of potential
extraction from local aquifers. The
cities of Moscow and Pullman,
along with Palouse Basin Aquifer Committee, have met
on two occasions with representatives of Naylor Farms LLC. Pursuant to Idaho Department of Water
Resource water right protest procedures, informal discussions have taken place
resulting in the following course of action:
- The protestors will develop data collection
protocols and monitoring guidance such that a determination regarding
adverse impact can be made.
- The protestors will request Idaho Department of
Water Resource attach the data collection protocols, monitoring guidance
and associated determination criteria as a condition to the water right
application.
