I need to go to work but I wanted to
share the value statement from the Idaho Department of Corrections.
To the best of my knowledge the adult division has not adopted the
restorative justice paradigm, though it is not hard to see how they could.
I have been very favorably impressed with the passion and compassion from
those I have met working within the justice agencies across Idaho.
Restorative justice, at the very least should be a partnership between
community and state; ideally it is owned by the community. The state is
reaching out and showing what they value, now I am very curious to hear
the values from the visionaries across Moscow. It might be somewhat
interesting to hear the community feel for how the DOC is doing in terms
of living these values. Are they missing something?
