I'm told there's an episode of "South Park" in which Jesus and Santa get in
a fistfight over whose holiday Christmas really is. There's a Norse epic
fragment in which the Christian God and Odin duke it out, too. Both were
considered blasphemous (or at least really, really bad theology) by
contemporary religious thinkers--at least partly because they implied an
heretical dualism. (Production values were a separate issue.)
I'm pretty sure the ultimate question, whatever it may be, is *not* "Whose
god wins the smackdown?" It's also probably not "Whose cuisine reigns
supreme?" despite its eucharistic possibilities.
