Thank you, Melinda, for a scholarly and (for a change) cogent view
of this discussion. I have several friends who are home schooling.
All of them are non-Christian, and the issue for them had nothing to
do with theology or even the quality of the school system. Mostly,
it had to do with long bus rides, difficulty in communications with a
system that runs during "working hours", and access for students
with disabilities. I believe that those who wish to keep their children
from differing viewpoints should, by all means, send their children
to religious based schools. Those who can afford it should, by all
means, send their children to GOOD charter/private schools. Those
who wish their children to be a part of the mainstream still have a
wonderful school system in the public schools---if they stay
involved and work with the school, their children will have a great
experience.....
